The 18th century house is set in parkland with more
formal gardens near the house. The grounds include herbaceous and
shrub borders and a woodland garden which provide year round
interest and colour. The gardens were largely planted between
1939 and 1976 and contain an interesting and unusual collection of
trees, shrubs, perennials and bulbs. The present restoration of the
garden was begun by Francis Grant together with his wife Virginia
in 1995 and she is now continuing this project both in the gardens
and in the adjacent parkland.
