Sculpture by the Lakes has been described as one of the most beautiful and unique sculpture parks in UK. Established in 2011, the 26 acre park is a place where you can experience art and the landscape. Set alongside Dorset’s River Frome with lakes, small streams, meandering woodland paths as well as more formal gardens, it is the perfect place to spend the day.
The gardens follow a relaxed flowing design reflecting the shape and movement of many of Simon Gudgeon’s sculptures. Evergreens are used throughout giving interest and structure all year round and a backdrop to the colours of spring and summer. Dramatic sweeps of clipped hedging and grasses frame the raised walkway and give an alternate view of the formal pergola and wildflower meadow beyond.
The quarter acre Kitchen Garden supplies The Gallery Café with fresh produce daily whilst a range of studios and work spaces host workshops, art courses, gardening lectures and creative master classes.
